Mapping Lived Experiences: Unlocking Stories in the
Human Library
The In this session, you will explore the Human Library, a unique approach where real people become “living books” and share their lived experiences to spark dialogue and reflection. These personal narratives offer deep insights into mental health, gender, cultural diversity, and equity. Many living books have faced prejudice, stereotyping, or unique challenges, making their stories powerful tools for fostering empathy and driving social change. The presenter will share her own research-informed encounters with Human Library stories, along with curated examples that highlight the Methodological and transformative potential of experience-driven inquiry. As knowledge-sharing practices evolve, the Human Library demonstrates the critical importance of human-centered, experience-based approaches in community-building. In an era increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, these stories underscore the irreplaceable value of human connection, empathy, and shared experiences in shaping inclusive societies. If you are interested in the intersection of narrative inquiry, social change, and human-centered research, this session will show why listening to lived experiences is both methodologically rigorous and transformative—and why it matters for social science research today. For LIS students interested in human-centered librarianship, social inclusion, and transformative information practices, this session will provide practical insights and research-informed strategies for applying lived experiences in professional practice.

Systematic Literature Reviews: Best Practices and Essential Tools
A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is a rigorous and structured method of identifying, evaluating and synthesizing existing research on a specific topic. Unlike traditional narrative reviews, an SLR reduces bias by adopting transparent, reproducible procedures, thereby ensuring comprehensive coverage and credible insights from the available body of knowledge. The importance of an SLR lies in its ability to generate evidence-based insights that inform academic research and policy-making. It also helps in identifying research gaps and future directions while supporting scholars in building robust theoretical and methodological foundations for their studies. To conduct an effective SLR, researchers can use a variety of tools at different stages of the process. These tools enhance efficiency, minimize errors and strengthen the overall reliability of systematic literature reviews and making them indispensable for advancing high-quality research.

Indian Knowledge System Week Activities at CLIMS
During the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Week, 6–10 October 2025, the Centre for Library and Information Management Studies (CLIMS) at TISS Mumbai organised multiple activities to engage students with knowledge preservation and GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) institutions. On 7 October, a quiz competition tested MLISc students on GLAM contributions, ancient manuscripts, digitisation and traditional knowledge. Winners included Gayathri Dinesh (First), Renu (Second), Abhishek Kaushik (Third), with Tarang Marcel Kachhap and Namrata Kartikey securing fourth and fifth positions. On 8 October, a poster-making competition on “Role of GLAM Institutions in Preserving Indian Knowledge” was held. Pranav Sharma, Aditi Sharma, Chitanya Jamrode won first prize, Ravi Pratap Singh and Chetan Raj second, and Nidhi Yadav, Avni Savant, Krisha Mitra third. On 9 October, students undertook a GLAM visit to IIT Bombay Library, IIM Mumbai Library and Jehangir Art Gallery, exploring innovative library services, digital systems and Indian art. These activities collectively enhanced students’ creativity, thinking and understanding of traditional and contemporary knowledge preservation practices.

Reimagining LIS Education: Collaborative Integration of Indian Knowledge System with NEP 2020 Frameworks within Social Sciences
The TISS-IATLIS National Conference which was the 40th IATLIS National Conference and took place at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in Mumbai. The conference was a collaborative effort between the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and the Indian Association of Teachers of Library and Information Science (IATLIS) and was supported by the Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF). The main theme of the conference was "Reimagining LIS Education: Collaborative Integration of Indian Knowledge Systems with NEP 2020 Frameworks within Social Sciences". Sub-themes included topics like integrating Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) in LIS curriculum, redefining LIS education under NEP 2020 and the role of digital transformation in preserving IKS. The brochure also outlined a call for papers from academicians, LIS professionals, and students, with specific guidelines for submission. Additionally, the conference introduced the "Best LIS School Award" to recognize schools demonstrating excellence in education and research with criteria based on curriculum innovation, research contributions, placement records and professional engagement. The event also announced several other IATLIS awards, including those for best teacher, research promotion and a lifetime achievement award.

Taxonomy and Metadata: A Perfect Match
'
The event was part of the Futuristic Library Innovation Programme (FLIP) 2025, a student-led initiative. Ms. Emma D'Angelo, Information Science Lead at ThinkAnalytics in Glasgow, UK, was the invited speaker. She discussed the crucial roles of metadata and taxonomy in effective information management. Ms. D'Angelo defined metadata as data that describes other data, highlighting its role in organizing and retrieving resources, while also pointing out the challenge of a lack of standardization across different institutions. The webinar also explored taxonomy, a systematic classification of resources that aids in navigation and discovery. The speaker explained different types of taxonomies, including enumerated and faceted ones, noting that ThinkAnalytics is shifting toward a faceted structure to better categorize its resources. The session further emphasized how a robust taxonomy is essential for recommendation engines to help users find related content. While AI can assist with metadata and tagging, the webinar explored its current limitations and the continued need for human input for accurate results.
