As part of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Week, celebrated from 6–10 October 2025, the Centre for Library and Information Management Studies (CLIMS) organised a quiz competition on October 7, 2025 on the theme “Role of Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums and Memory Institutions in Preserving Indian Knowledge.”
The quiz questions covered a wide range of topics, including the contributions of GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) institutions in preserving Indian heritage; ancient Indian manuscripts, palm-leaf texts, and rare collections; notable Indian repositories, museums, and archival institutions; case studies, historical examples, and preservation practices; digitisation, emerging technologies, and innovations in safeguarding IKS; contributions of universities, research institutes, and academic libraries; ancient Indian history and culture; traditional practices; intangible cultural heritage; traditional knowledge; and indigenous wisdom.
The competition comprised 25 objective-type questions, each to be answered within 20 seconds, testing both accuracy and speed. Faculty members and research scholars from CLIMS were present throughout the session, observing with keen interest as students applied their classroom learning in a dynamic and engaging environment.
The event was coordinated by Ms. Mili Maheshwari (MLISc 2024-26 Batch) and Ms. Diya Sanghavi (MLISc 2025-27 Batch), under the guidance of Dr. Satish Kanamadi and Dr. Akhilesh Yadav, whose meticulous planning and encouragement ensured the smooth execution of every stage of the competition. To recognise the participants’ efforts, an award ceremony was held on October 10, 2025 in the SDTM Library Meeting Room. The gathering was attended by esteemed faculty members of CLIMS, research scholars, quiz participants, and library staff, whose presence added warmth and encouragement to the occasion.
The programme commenced with an opening address by Dr. J. Shivarama, Chairperson, CLIMS, followed by a keynote speech by Prof. Anil Sutar, Dean, School of Research Methodology. In his remarks, Prof. Sutar commended the enthusiasm, originality, and scholarly engagement demonstrated by the participants and appreciated CLIMS for hosting initiatives that promote academic curiosity and collaborative learning.
The winners of the quiz were announced during the ceremony. Gayathri Dinesh (MLISc, 2025–27 Batch) secured the first prize, answering 21 out of 25 questions correctly in 2 minutes and 57 seconds. Renu (MLISc, 2025–27 Batch) achieved second place with 20 correct answers in 3 minutes and 58 seconds, while Abhishek Kaushik (MLISc, 2025–27 Batch) earned third place with 20 correct responses in 4 minutes and 6 seconds. The fourth and fifth prizes were awarded to Tarang Marcel Kachhap (MLISc, 2024–26 Batch) and Namrata Kartikey (MLISc, 2024–26 Batch), respectively.
All winners received certificates and prizes, and all participants were acknowledged with certificates of participation in recognition of their engagement and efforts. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Avinash J. Katve, Ph.D. Scholar at CLIMS, who expressed gratitude to the faculty, organisers and students for their contributions in making the IKS Week celebrations a collective success.
